For starters, don’t get depressed! We know, it’s easier said than done. But there is nothing less appealing than a person who has been reduced to rubble over a break-up. No, it’s not endearing or flattering or in any way attractive. In fact, it’s kind of creepy.

Whatever you do, don’t talk to your ex about your feelings at this time. It’s important that you do talk though, but talk to a trusted friend or close family member. This will help to clear your head.

Another obvious no-no is begging and pleading with your ex. Yes, we know, most people don’t intend to plead when they call up their former boyfriend or girlfriend. But then the conversation quickly degenerates and ends with one party pleading helplessly into the receiver. Needless to say that this is not attractive and it may even cause your ex to lose respect for you. After that kind of display, rapprochement may be impossible.

The last point is almost the same as begging, although less a matter of self control. It’s desperation. Very hard to turn off. The best thing here is to have no contact with your ex at all. Rather then feel your how desperate you are, your ex may well think your lack of contact means that you are in control. At the same time, you can use this time to get your head together, so when you do talk, you really are not desperate anymore!

The outcome of having no contact may well even prompt your ex into contacting you to make sure you’re alright. This is the ideal opportunity to come over as being in control, and is very attractive.
